X  Leave Unstitched

Hair Detail:
To create cowlick use two strands sewn through back.  Do not backstitch.

Backstitch with one strand:

433: Hands; chin; ears; smile; nose; sleeve and gown edges

498: Checked pattern on gown

3371: Eyes

356: Toes

282Z: Double outline on wing

910: Checked pattern on wing

French Knots:

498: Gown;   433: Toes;   910: Wing

To Assemble:

Stitch angel as charted. Cut out shapes leaving one extra “square” on all edges. Stitch wing as charted except leave bottom row unstitched. Cut out wing, leaving one extra “square” on all sides and making sure to leave an additional row of squares for the bottom row of stitches. Position wing on angel, matching unworked rows. Stitch the last row through both pieces to join them.

Halo: Stiffen an 8” piece of metallic with craft glue. While still damp, thread needle with metallic and anchor it on the back near the $ symbol. Bring from back-to-front at $ symbol. Leave loop for halo, bring needle front-to-back at the other $ symbol. Anchor each end on the back.
