This band sampler is offered as a series of lessons. The
sampler includes white work and pulled thread stitches. Each mini
lesson is taught in little bitty steps with lots of tips. My goal is
to teach the beginner without boring the advanced stitcher. |
Overall
stitched size will be
two and a half inches wide &
four and a half inches long.
It is designed
to fit in a 4" x 6" frame or mat opening.
Cut your fabric an extra 2" to 3" on each side. 10" x
12" should be plenty. |
|
First
Band
We start with a simple floral
motif inspired by the border in an 18th century sampler.
The band includes cross stitch and back stitch. |
 |
|
Second
Band
Follow the Floral Motif with a
row of Smyrna crosses
stitched with #8 Pearl Cotton. |
 |
|
Third
Band
Add the word "Kindness"
in simple backstitch. |

|
|
Fourth
Band
Next, add a delicate row of
flower buds nestled between two rows of pulled four sided stitches.
|

|
|
Fifth
Band
A row of leaves with tiny buds and
fine tendrils comes next. |
 |
Sixth
Band
Now, add a row of diamond eyelets with
the year "2000." |
 |
Seventh
Band
A whitework band adds an elegant
touch. You'll find that these stitches are relaxing and easy! |
 |
|
Eighth
Band
To complete your band sampler, add this row of traditional
sampler flowers and delicate back stitched leaves. |
